MANSFIELD – Xavier Warner topped six Mountaineers in double-figures with a game-high 19 points to lead Mansfield to a 103-60 win over Penn College in a non-conference matchup on First Citizens Community Bank Court in Decker Gymnasium Monday evening.

"In the first half we didn't do a good job of converting the turnovers we created into points," said head coach Rich Miller. "In the second half we did a much better job capitalizing on those turnovers and turning them into points."

Mansfield (1-2) never trailed in the game but Penn College (0-3) hung tough in the early going trailing just 11-9 when Nathaniel Brown hit a jumper five minutes into the contest.

Mansfield would start to steadily pull away, taking the first double-digit of the game on a jumper by Joe Bell midway through the first half.

The Mountaineers extended that lead to 49-29 at halftime behind senior Onyema Utti who scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half.

Mansfield led 70-40 on a 3-pointer by Brady Burke with 11 minutes to play and was able to coast home with its first win over the season after suffering two tough defeats.

Warner, who scored 13 points in the second half, also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in his best outing of the season. Freshman Ryan Krawczeniuk scored a season-best 16 points, 15 of them coming off five 3-pointers. He also had a game-high four steals.

Joe Bell and Onyema each scored 15 points with Charles Pemberton scoring 13 points and Charles Becoats adding 10 points.

Mansfield forced 31 Penn College turnovers while recording 20 steals and outrebounded the Wildcats 42-35.

Thomas Ross led Penn College with 11 points with freshman Marquis Delgado, a Mansfield High School grad, scored seven points while dishing out a game-high six assists.

Mansfield opens the PSAC season this Wednesday when they travel to East Stroudsburg.
