Women’s Soccer Hosts First Home Night Game in Program History Wednesday

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Women's Soccer Hosts First Home Night Game in Program History Wednesday

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women's soccer program is set to host Goldey-Beacom College on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7p.m. at Karl Van Norman Field for the first home night game in program history.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio and live stats available at GoMounties.com.

After an 0-4 start to the season against a tough slate of competition the Mountaineers went on a four-game unbeaten streak, picking up wins over Pitt-Johnstown, Seton Hill, and Clarion along with a draw against IUP. Three of Mansfield's first four losses were decided by just one goal.

The Mounties are currently 3-6-1 on the season after to falling to PSAC rivals Lock Haven and Bloomsburg in their last two outings.

Danielle Lentz leads Mansfield with three goals while Kelsey Chapman, Danelle Shelters and Karyn Anselmo have each scored two goals. The Mountaineer defense is anchored by junior Sara Weaver who's started all 10 games and leads the team in minutes played this season with 889.

Goldey-Beacom, a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), enters the game with a 1-7 overall record.

The Lightning are led offensively by Alexandra Smith and Michelle Foster who each have a pair of goals on the season. Smith has totaled 21 shots with 10 going on goal this year and has also recorded two assists.
