FOR IMMEDIATE RELESE: Mounties Fall on the Road to Gannon 88-64
ERIE –
Charles Becoats hit six treys on his way to a team-high 22 points, but it wouldn't be enough as visiting Mansfield fell 88-64 on the road to Gannon Saturday night in PSAC crossover play.
Becoats was 8-of-14 from the field including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc to pace the Mounties. It was déjà vu all over again for Becoats who hit six 3-pointers and racked up 22 points last night against Mercyhurst. His six treys are a career high for the senior.
Chuck Harper netted 15 points and pulled down seven boards in the loss. Harper has scored at least 15 points in the last three games for Mansfield.
Onyema Utti added 10 points and six rebounds.
Gannon's Robert Wilson led five Golden Knights in double-figure scoring with a game-high 29 points while also pulling down 10 boards. Wilson was a perfect five-of-five from 3-point.
Mansfield (3-8, 1-6 PSAC) was an ice cold 28.2% (20-71) from the floor, but was 34.8% (8-23) from 3-point. It marked the Mountie's lowest team field goal percentage since shooting 27.7% (18-65) against Barry on Dec. 20, 2009.
In contrast, Gannon was 58.3% (28-48) from the floor and 70.0% (7-10) from beyond the arc.
The Knights held a 46-32 rebounding advantage in the game.
Mansfield hosts Clarion at Decker Gymnasium on Friday, Jan. 11.
