Capital One Academic All-American Teams
TOWNSON, Md. – Senior sprinter
Justen Johnson has been selected to 2
nd team Capital One Academic All-American honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for his outstanding performance in the classroom and on the track.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Johnson earned his degree in Sports Nutrition/Pre-Med this past spring and registered an overall GPA of 3.741. He is an MU Presidential and PSAC Scholar-Athlete and recipient of the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award.
On the track, Johnson went to heights never before seen by a Mountaineer sprinter by winning an individual PSAC indoor title in the 400m and earning a trip to the NCAA Championships in Mankato, Minn. At nationals, Johnson finished 12
th overall in the 400m. Johnson capped off his career by placing 3
rd in the 400m at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
Johnson holds school records in the 60m, 200m, 300m, 400m and 500m events.
