SLIPPERY ROCK – The Mansfield University field hockey squad (3-5, 1-3 PSAC W) fell to PSAC West rivals Slippery Rock University (3-7, 2-2 PSAC W) with a final score of 5-0 Tuesday afternoon.
The Mountie defenders played tough, recording three defensive saves as a team. Sophomore
Sarah Zwick had two defensive saves in the game with freshman
Jessi Swingle adding another.
Junior
Kristy Tutorow had two shots on the day with one on goal.
Mansfield keeper
Jamie Twist came in at the 11th minute and recorded six saves in total. The Mountaineers recorded 12 saves as a unit.
Slippery Rock's offense put three scores on the board in the first half courtesy of Gabrielle Malishchak, Allison Banks and Rebecca Williams.
In the second half, The Rock added to their lead with goals coming from Gina Smarelli and Kelsey Gustafson to make the final score 5-0 in favor of Slippery Rock.
Mansfield hits the road again, when they travel to West Chester University for a PSAC crossover match-up. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
