Four Different Scorers Lead Mounties over Millersville

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team had four different players score as they defeated PSAC opponent Millersville, by a score of 4-2, on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Jenna Duke, Kylee Boardman, Amanda Ray, and Jordan Brunnabend found the cage for the Mountaineers. Brunnabend had a pair of defensive saves as well. Kiley Moister had five saves.

Both teams found themselves at a stalemate after one quarter. Duke would finally break through four minutes into the second quarter, converting from a corner, to give Mansfield a 1-0 lead.

Mansfield would increase the lead with the help of another corner Korimae Reisinger sent in a shot and Boardman redirected it for the goal. Mansfield led 2-0.

Millersville would quickly respond forcing a corner of their own and converting to cut the lead in half 2-1. That score would remain heading into halftime.

The third quarter was scoreless before the teams scored in quick fashion in the final 15 minutes. The Mountaineers struck first converting a third corner with a straight shot from Ray, giving the Mounties the 3-1 lead.

The Marauders would answer less than a minute later cutting the lead 3-2. The Mounties wouldn't let Millersville steal the momentum and drew another corner that led to Brunnabend's first goal of the year. Mansfield would take the game by a final score of 4-2.
