MANSFIELD - The Mansfield University women's cross country team is ranked 4th in the Atlantic Region by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) after a strong performance this past weekend. It marks the highest regional ranking ever achieved by a Mansfield cross country team.

The Mountie women have given solid performances in their first two weeks of the season. In their opening race, Mansfield turned in a complete team performance placing five runners in the top eight for a 1st place overall team finish at the Hamilton Short Course Invite.

This past Saturday, the Mountaineers placed 4th amongst tough Division I competition which included the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in Georgetown University and defending MAC champions Ohio University. Senior Brenae Edwards placed 5th overall with sisters Jess Scordino and Kristy Scordino finishing 16th and 17th respectively.

Shippensburg University sits atop the Atlantic Regional poll followed by Edinboro, Lock Haven and then Mansfield. Full poll results below:
