ERIE – Mansfield sophomore Taryn Schawillie's goal 23 seconds into the second overtime period lifted Mansfield to a 2-1 win over Mercyhurst in a season-ending PSAC West contest Saturday afternoon at Mercyhurst.

Schawillie's goal, her second of the game and 15th of the season, came just seconds into the second overtime period off a pass from junior Kristy Tutorow. Her 15 goals tie for fifth the most goals scored in a season by a Mountaineer player. Schawillie now has 28 goals in her first two seasons tying her for fifth on the MU career list.

Schawillie scored the Mountaineers first goal, also coming off an assist from Tutorow, 22 minutes into the first half.

That lead stood up, behind excellent play from the Mountaineer defense and sophomore goalie Kristie Rollman, through the first half and into the second before Mercyhust tied the score on a goal by Meghan Smith who lifted the ball over Rollman head off a penalty corner.

Rollman then held off an onslaught of shots by Mercyhurst late in the game stopping five shots over a 13 minute span sending the game into overtime.

Rollman kept up her standout play in the first overtime, stopping four shots on goal and extending the game into a second overtime.

Mercyhurst held a 25-15 shot advantage with Rollman recording a career-high 16 saves in goal for Mansfield.
It was a physical, highly-contested game that featured three yellow including two against Mercyhurst.

The win, which avenged a 7-2 loss suffered at Mercyhurst earlier in the year, gives Mansfield a 4-6 PSAC West mark (6-12 overall) ending the season with a fourth place finish in the division.

Mercyhurst finishes fifth in the PSAC West with a 3-7 divisional mark and 7-11 overall.
