Field Hockey Drops 4-1 Decision to Kutztown

LOCK HAVEN – Mansfield sophomore Taryn Schawillie scored her team-high 12th goal of the season but Kutztown got goals from four different players to down the Mountaineers 4-1 in a PSAC crossover game with Kutztown played at Lock Haven Monday afternoon. The game was a makeup from the originally scheduled Sept. 6 date.

Kutztown (10-6, 4-4 PSAC East) scored three times in the first half getting goals from Erin Reynolds, Kim Angstadt and Emily Labowitz to take a 3-0 lead at halftime.

The Golden Bears went up 4-0 on Jenna Gregory's goal five minutes into the second half.

Schawillie, who has scored a goal in each of the last three games, took a pass from Kristy Tutorow in front of the goal and tipped the ball into the back left corner of the net in the 53rd minute cutting the score to 4-1. It was Tutorow's team-best fifth assist of the season.

Mansfield (4-12, 2-6 PSAC), which was outshot 10-5 in the first half, recorded 15 shots in the second half to Kutztown's 10. The Mountaineers also held a 13-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Jamie Twist started in goal for Mansfield and was credited with two saves before being relieved to start the second half by Kristie Rollman who allowed just one goal with six saves over the final 35 minutes.
Emily Falko had nine saves for Kutztown.

Mansfield will end the regular season with games against Slippery Rock Wednesday at Lock Haven before ending the year at Mercyhurst on Saturday.
