MANSFIELD – The Mountaineers opened up the scoring early, taking a one goal lead in a non-conference road contest against Houghton College Thursday afternoon, but four straight unanswered goals by the Highlanders saddled Mansfield (4-10, 2-5 PSAC W) with the 4-1 loss.

Sophomore Taryn Schawillie put the Mounties on top early in the game when she scored an unassisted goal just two minutes into the game. The goal marked Schawillie's eigth goal on the season.

Houghton (7-3) rallied to tie the game at one goal apiece in the fifth minute when Maesa Phongsamouth put a cross pass into goal.

The Highlanders added three more goals in the first half to take a 4-1 lead over the Mountaineers.

In the second half, Mansfield outshot Houghton 6-1, but the Mountaineers couldn't put together a scoring opportunity and fell with a final score of 4-1.

Along with her goal, Schawillie led Mansfield's offense putting five shots on goal. Junior keeper Jamie Twist tallied five saves on the day.

The Highlander's Ashley Engle finished the game with a goal and two assists.

The Mounties are back in action when they face-off against Shippensburg University this Saturday, Oct. 15 in a home game on the road at Lock Haven University's Charlotte E. Smith Field.
