Field Hockey Downs Seton Hill in PSAC West Action

Boxscore

GREENSBURG – Mansfield's Lacey Croasdale and Brianna Velepec each scored goals to lead the Mounties over Seton Hill (3-11, 1-6 PSAC West) in PSAC West play Tuesday, Oct. 11. The road win snaps a six-game losing streak for Mansfield (4-9, 2-5 PSAC West).

The Mountaineers controlled the offensive tempo in the first half, outshooting the Griffins 8-3 with six of those shots being on goal.

Croasdale scored the second goal of her career in the 20th minute when she beat the keeper on an unasissted score.

The Mountie defense kept Seton Hill's scoring opportunities to a minimum and Mansfield went into halftime with the 1-0 lead.

The second half was a defensive battle as both teams were held scoreless until the 62nd minute when Velepec took a Tutorow pass and struck it past the Griffin keeper. The goal marked the first of the season for the sophomore.

Seton Hill couldn't rally past the deficit and Mansfield walked away with a key 2-0 division victory.

Mansfield keeper Kristie Rollman led the Mounties to their first shutout of the season with a game high eight saves. Although the Griffin's offense turned on the pressure with five shots on goal in the second half, Mansfield's defense would not concede a goal.

The Mountaineers are back in action when they travel to Houghton College on Thursday, Oct. 13 for a non-conference match. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
