Mansfield Men Hold Off Shippensburg 69-62

SHIPPENSBURG – Tony Fannick scored 13 of his game-high 15 points in the second half, including six points in the final two minutes, as Mansfield outlasted Shippensburg 69-62in a PSAC East contest Saturday afternoon in Heiges Field House.

Mansfield used a 7-0 run over the final minute of the first half to take a 35-23 halftime lead and extended the lead to 37-23 on a dunk by Yuseff Carr to open the second half.

But Shippensburg outscored Mansfield 19-6 over the next seven minutes to close to 43-42 with just over 12 minutes to play.

Mansfield increased the lead to 56-49 on a Kevonte McClain layup with just over six minutes to play before Shippensburg rallied to pull to 60-59 on a pair of free throws by Jordan Stasyszyn with 2:26 remaining.

and a pair of free throws by Carr followed by another Fannick layup with 35 second remaining gave Mansfield an insurmountable 66-59 lead.

Mansfield connected on 16-of-19 free throws in the game and held a 41-33 rebounding advantage.
In addition to Fannick's 15 points, freshman Kyle Bradley scored a season-high 12 points. Carr, who missed much of the second half with four fouls, also scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Dane Lauber led Shippensburg (6-10, 1-3 PSAC East) with 14 points.

With the win, Mansfield (11-5, 3-1 PSAC East remains in a second-place in the division one game behind Kutztown which beat East Stroudsburg 85-82 Saturday.

Mansfield will host Bloomsburg Wednesday
