Mansfield beats Princeton 10-6 on Michael Wallace's record-setting 57-yard touchdown run

PRINCETON, NJ –
Michael Wallace broke a school record 57-yard touchdown run of Mansfield's first play of scrimmage to lead Mansfield to a 10-6 win over Princeton in a CSFL football game Friday night at Powers Field at Princeton Stadium.
Wallace broke through a wide-open field and then out raced the secondary to give Mansfield a 7-0 lead less then three minutes into the game after#
Ryan Lose# converted on the extra point attempt.
Wallace ran for 115-yards on 19 carries accounting for more than half of Mansfield's 215 yards in total offense.
Princeton closed the score to 7-6 with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter when John Moffat converted on a 2-yard run to cap off a 10 play, 37-yard scoring drive. The two- point conversion failed giving Mansfield a 7-6 lead at halftime.
Mansfield increased its lead to 10-6 late in the third quarter when
Ryan Lose hit a 22-yard field goal to put Mansfield up 10-6. Mansfield also drove inside Princeton's 15-yard line in the third quarter but turned the ball over on downs.
Mansfield held a 213-202 advantage in total offense including 138 yards on the ground. Wallace's 57-yard TD scamper was the longest in the three years Mansfield hast field a sprint football team. Quarterback
Spencer La Mountain gained 24-yards on six carries and completed 10-21 passes for 75-yards with no interceptions.
Shane McHenry had three catches for 24 yards while Ben Andeton had three grabs for 22 yards.
Freshman
Ako Sayed led the defense with nine tackles while
Kevin Baker and Justin DeMatteo
had seven and six stops respectively. Jon Keller# picked off a pass.
For Princeton, Jaison Zachariah competed 10-of-27 passes for 111 yards with John Moffat and Kees Thompson combining for seven catches for 83 yards. Kevin Infante picked up 46 yards in 28 carries.
Mansfield improves to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in CSFL play. The Mountaineers will host Penn next Saturday for Homecoming at Karl Van Norman Field.
