Kelley Sundberg

Sundberg joined the Mountaineer women's basketball program prior to the start of the 2016-17 season.

In 2017-18, Mansfield earned its first postseason berth in 11 years and just the third PSAC Tournament appearance in program history.

The 2017-18 season saw the Mountaineers earn the most overall and conference wins since the 2011-12 season. Mansfield’s 71-54 win over Shippensburg was just the fifth in series history and snapped an 18-game series losing streak to the Raiders. In their next game, visiting Mansfield knocked off Bloomsburg 63-53 on the road for the first time in 33 years and just the second ever win at Nelson Fieldhouse. The Mounties also defeated Millersville 60-54 at Decker Gymnasium for just the fifth win over the Marauders in series history.

Following the season, Brielle Kelly was named to 1st Team All-PSAC East and Alyssa Mullins to 2nd Team All-PSAC East. It was the first 1st Team All-PSAC East selection for the Mountaineers since the 2006-07 season and the first time Mansfield placed two student-athletes on the all-conference team since 2005-06.

Mansfield won five games in 2016-17 including a season sweep of Cheyney and the program’s first ever victory over Gannon in a 57-50 final at Decker Gymnasium.

Sundberg
started 107 games at point guard in four seasons at Gannon, including every game during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She was a three-time All-PSAC West selection and helped the Golden Knights to three NCAA Tournament berths including the NCAA Atlantic Regional title in 2013 to advance to the Elite Eight. She ranks fifth on the Gannon all-time assists list with 574 and 10th in free throw percentage at 76.8%.

With no prior experience, Sundberg played a season of lacrosse in her fifth year at Gannon where she started at midfield and scored 21 goals.

The Mansfield, Conn. native earned her B.S. in Exercise Science from Gannon in 2014 before completing her Masters in Nutrition and Exercise Sciences from the University of Tampa in the summer of 2016.

Sundberg served as a personal trainer/group fitness instructor and a corporate wellness coach prior to joining the Mountaineers. She also has coaching experience at Gannon basketball camps.
Whitling is the fastest coach in program history to lead a team to the postseason, guiding Mansfield to a PSAC Tournament berth in his second season at the helm in 2017-18. It was just the third time in program history the Mounties appeared in playoffs and the first time in 11 years.
