Andrew Petko joined Mansfield as Director of Athletics in 2025, bringing a proven record of leadership across NCAA Division I and Division II athletics, with extensive experience in department operations, revenue generation, fundraising, strategic partnerships, facilities, and student-athlete success.
At Mansfield, Petko provides leadership and oversight for more than 30 athletics department employees serving approximately 240 student-athletes across 11 varsity programs. A collaborative and results-driven athletics administrator, Petko has quickly established a culture centered on competitive excellence, academic achievement, revenue growth, student-athlete development, and an enhanced campus and community experience.
Since his arrival, Mansfield Athletics has experienced significant growth across multiple areas. Petko increased sponsorship revenue by 68 percent within his first five months through the addition of five new brand partnerships, followed by a 98 percent year-over-year increase in total sponsorship revenue in Year 2. He has also expanded the department’s external engagement and fundraising efforts, helping drive a 91 percent year-over-year increase in Mansfield’s All-In Day of Giving, the largest total in the foundation’s history.
Under Petko’s leadership, Mansfield’s basketball programs have also experienced increased engagement and attendance. Men’s and women’s basketball combined to produce a 21.2 percent increase in attendance through strategic marketing campaigns, promotions, and interactive in-game experiences designed to strengthen the game-day atmosphere and connect with the Mansfield community.
A strong advocate for the student in student-athlete, Petko has placed academic achievement at the forefront of Mansfield Athletics. During the 2025-26 academic year, more than 61 Mansfield student-athletes were recognized on the Eastern Athletic Communications Association Academic Honor Roll, while 91 earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete recognition. Mansfield Athletics posted a 2.99 department GPA in the fall and improved to a 3.13 GPA in the spring. More than 100 student-athletes achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher during Fall 2025, highlighted by nearly 40 percent of the softball roster earning a perfect 4.0 semester GPA. Mansfield’s Sprint Football program also established a school record with a 2.73 team GPA in Spring 2025.
Petko has additionally prioritized opportunities for Mansfield student-athletes to benefit from their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL). He established a formal partnership with Influxer, providing Mansfield student-athletes with an avenue to monetize their NIL through official merchandise.
Prior to Mansfield, Petko served as Deputy Director of Athletics at Central Washington University, where he provided leadership across a broad range of athletics operations and programs. During his tenure, Central Washington teams in football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and track and field regularly competed in NCAA postseason competition. Men’s basketball captured the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament championship on its home court, while women’s basketball completed the most successful season in program history, advancing to the regional final.
Petko also oversaw Central Washington’s track and field program, which produced individual championships and major national honors, including NCAA Field Athlete of the Year and a three-time national champion.
In addition to his sport oversight responsibilities, Petko played a key role in major facilities and external initiatives. He oversaw the completion of the $60.5 million renovation of the historic Nicholson Pavilion, Fieldhouse, and Purser Hall, as well as the installation of a new video board at Tomlinson Stadium and a $150,000 facility improvement project. He collaborated with the Ellensburg Downtown Association on event proposals and initiatives designed to enhance the football game-day experience and successfully secured Central Washington as the host institution for the 2026 D2CCA Tip-Off Classic.
Before Central Washington, Petko served as Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Business Operations at Minot State University. He oversaw major facility initiatives, including the installation of new FieldTurf at Herb Parker Stadium and the removal of the university’s collapsed air-supported dome. During his tenure, Minot State added multiple sports, increased revenue and enrollment, and successfully secured the bid to host the 2024 NCAA Division II Super Regional Wrestling Tournament.
Petko previously served as Director of Business Affairs at Loyola Marymount University, where he oversaw the athletics department’s $20 million budget and managed financial operations, human resources, ticket auditing, summer camps, external vendors, equipment services, and licensed branding. He supervised the Equipment Manager, Ticket Manager, and Camp Coordinator and developed new revenue opportunities for the department.
During his time at Loyola Marymount, Petko created the Game Day Camp program, generating an additional $50,000 in annual revenue, and led summer camp operations generating more than $600,000 annually. He also increased summer camp revenue on a year-over-year basis and conducted a comprehensive audit of licensed branding vendors that resulted in a 45 percent increase in licensing revenue. In 2017, he led the athletics department’s comprehensive rebranding initiative.
Petko began his career in higher education as a volunteer men’s ice hockey assistant coach at Buffalo State College in Buffalo, New York.
A native of Buffalo, New York, Petko earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University at Buffalo and a Master of Science degree from California University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Stacy, have two daughters, Blair and Scarlett.
