Don Cook will begin his first season as Mansfield University track and field assistant coach in 2022-23.
A Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifier in the long jump and captain for the last three years, Cook is expected to help guide the sprints and jumps.
Cook transferred to Mansfield from C.C. Philadelphia for the 2019-20 year. In his Mountaineer career, Cook landed in the top three in both the indoor (3rd, 6.84m) and outdoor (3rd, 6.64m) triple jump.
Known for his leadership and perseverance, Cook battled back from hamstring injuries multiple times in his career. After suffering the injury on his final jump of the 2022 PSAC indoor Championships, Cook successfully rehabbed back to qualify for the 2022 PSAC Outdoor Championships, finishing seventh in the event. That drive led him to be named Male Iron Mountie of the Year in 2022.
Cook was also named the 2021 Mansfield CREED award for culture.
The Wyncote, Pa. native is set to graduate with a bachelor of science degree in business at the end of the 2022-23 school year.
