Ryan Larcom

Ryan Larcom returned to the Mansfield sprint football coaching staff in 2026, reuniting with head coach Mike Pearson and bringing more than two decades of coaching experience throughout Pennsylvania’s Northern Tier and at the collegiate level.

A respected football coach throughout the region, Larcom has built his career around player development, offensive football, special teams and recruiting. His extensive connections throughout the Northern Tier League have also helped establish a strong pipeline of local talent to Mansfield, giving some of the region’s top student-athletes an opportunity to continue their football careers close to home.

Larcom is no stranger to the Mountaineer sidelines. He originally joined the Mansfield staff in 2012 following 12 seasons as the offensive coordinator at Towanda High School. During his first season with the Mountaineers, Larcom coached the tight ends and special teams before taking over the running backs and coordinating special teams in 2013. He was elevated to offensive coordinator and running backs coach for the 2014 season.

Before making the move to Mansfield, Larcom was an integral part of one of the most successful stretches in Towanda football history. During the final eight seasons of his 12-year tenure as offensive coordinator, the Black Knights compiled a 75-19 record. Towanda won 11 or more games four times during that stretch, finishing 11-1 in 2005, 12-1 in 2007, 11-1 in 2009 and 11-1 in 2010. The Black Knights followed that run with a 9-2 campaign in 2011 before Larcom joined the Mountaineers.

Larcom's coaching background extends beyond Towanda and Mansfield. He previously served as the head coach at Cowanesque Valley High School and as head coach of the Northern Tier Bruins of the North American Football League. His decades of experience coaching in District IV have made him a familiar presence throughout the Northern Tier and an important connection between Mansfield football and the high school programs surrounding it.

That connection continues to show throughout the Mountaineer program. Mansfield's 2026 roster features eight former Northern Tier League student-athletes from Troy, Canton and Athens, including Weston Bellows, Matt Machmer, Camryn Harwick, Brayden Spalding, Joseph Frye, Jack Burbage, Jackson Taylor and Ben Fitch. Larcom's relationships throughout the NTL have helped Mansfield identify and retain talented players from its own backyard while strengthening the program's ties to football communities across the region.

Larcom's recruiting responsibilities include Pennsylvania's Districts IV and IX, New York's Sections 4 and 9, and Michigan.

In 2023, Larcom was also selected to coach alongside Pearson as a member of the Team UPMC staff for the District IV Football Coaches Association All-Star Game.

Larcom is a graduate of Penn State University.
