John Lofay

John Lofay enters his first season as the defensive line coach of the Mountaineer football program.

Before coming to Mansfield University, John Lofay was the Defensive Line Coach for the Chicago Eagles of the Champions Indoor Football League.  The Eagles’ Defense ranked fourth in passing yards (143.7) and fifth in total yards (234) per game.  His Defensive Line ranked second in sacks (15.5) and third in tackles for loss (28).  Two of his Defensive Linemen are now in the AFL.

In his time as the Defensive Line Coach for the Miami Ironmen of the Stars Football League, the Ironmen would go on to an undefeated season and win The President’s Cup.  The Defense gave up 13 points all season and was ranked first in every category.  The starting Defensive End led the SFL in sacks (11) and the starting Defensive Tackle led the SFL in tackles for loss (14).

Coach Lofay also has four years of High School experience.  In his last three years, his Defensive Line amassed over 100 sacks.  He has coached; four All-Conference selections, five All-Region selections, five North All-Stars, two All-State selections and one All-American.  Four of his players continued their careers at the college level.

Coach Lofay graduated from Purdue University Calumet with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication.  He also received a Silver Certificate in the Inspired Leadership Series.  He will graduate from Ohio University in December 2017 with a Master’s in Coaching Education.  When he’s not on the field, he can be found enjoying great company with his wife Tiffany, sons Julian, Jaden and Jordan and daughter Jiana.
