Devan Hill enters his first season with the Mountaineers where he will serve as the running backs coach.
Hill comes to Mansfield from NCAA Division II Chowan University where he served as the defensive coordinator, coached the secondary and assisted with special teams. He led a Chowan defensive backfield that ranked 6th in the nation in interceptions with 19 in 2015. Â
Hill was a member of the Division I Hampton University football team that captured MEAC and SBN Championships during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. Hill graduated from Hampton in 2000 with a degree in sports management.
Hill joined the coaching staff of his alma mater in 2003 as a cornerback and assistant special teams coach before being promoted to linebacker coach and recruiting coordinator in 2007. From 2009-12, Hill was the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator for the Pirates.
In the summer of 2012, Hill worked with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an intern where he was responsible for assisting the defensive backs, special teams and quality control.
Between 2003 to 2015, Hill has coached a combined 18 All-Conference defensive back and linebacker selections, including 12 who played professionally.
