Mansfield Athletics

Dr. Maris has been a Biology Professor at Mansfield University since 1988 and Department Chair since 2010. He also served as Mansfield University's Faculty Athletic Representative since 1998.

Maris and his wife Yvonne served as the cheerleading advisors from 1990 until their retirement from guiding the team in 2018.

Maris received a B.S. in Zoology from Texas A&M University in 1975 and an M.S. in Marine Biology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1980. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Oceanography from Old Dominion University in 1986.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Bob has conducted studies on bioremediation, crustacean larval/post-larval distribution in marine ecosystem in the Gulf of Mexico and Chesapeake Bay and Blue Crab population structure.
