Anthony Goncalves

Anthony GoncalvesĀ served as the baseball assistant head coach during the 2020 season.

Prior to Mansfield, Goncalves spent four seasons as the assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinated at Jefferson University. Goncalves helped the Rams notch their best regular season in program-history when the club finished second in the Central Atlantic Athletic Conference with an 11-9 conference record. He also helped the offense improve in every statistical category, improving the team's home run totals from 13 in 2015 to 54 in 2017. He coached two Player of the Year and All-American players, five all-conference members and three players that went on to play professional baseball.

Before Goncalves made a home at Jefferson, he spent two seasons as the assistant coach at Arcadia University where he recruited 26 student-athletes, coached five players to all-conference recognition and helped two players reach the professional level.

After serving as the assistant coach of the Strasburg Express (Valley Collegiate Baseball League) for two seasons, Goncalves was named head coach of the club in 2018. He coached seven players that currently reside with Major League Baseball organizations while leading the team to a No. 7 national ranking.

Goncalves began his collegiate baseball career at Union County College before spending his final two seasons of athletic eligibility as an outfielder on the Misericordia University baseball team. As a senior, Goncalves batted .330 with 12 RBI and 25 runs scored while leading the team in walks.

In 2011, Goncalves began his coaching career as the assistant and outfield coach at his alma mater, Misericordia University. The Cougars won the Middle Atlantic Conference championship during all three seasons Goncalves was an assistant, making three NCAA Regional appearances and ranking as high as No. 10 in the country.

A native of Union, N.J., Goncalves is a 2006 graduate of Union High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in sports management from Misericordia College in 2011 and a master of science in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia Irvine University in 2018.
