The Mountaineer field hockey team competes atop the Mansfield campus on scenic Lavere Spaulding Field.
Mansfield is the only school in the PSAC that has a venue dedicated exclusively to field hockey.
Dedicated in 1976, the field is named in honor of Lavere Spaulding, a 1931 graduate of Mansfield State Teacher College.
Prior to the construction of Spaulding Field, the Mountaineer field hockey team held its home contests at Smythe Park in downtown Mansfield.
The enclosed field features a press box along with a locker room and athletic training area, digital scoreboard, public address system, equipment storage area and permanent seating for 100 fans. The field hockey press box provides ample working space for visiting media and game personnel on the upper floor.
