Duke Hat Trick Among Five Different Scorers as Mounties Defeat Saint Michael’s

KUTZTOWN, Pa.- Jenna Duke scored a hat trick and was among five different scores for the Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team as they defeated Saint Michael's College, on Sunday, Sept. 6 in Kutztown.The Mounties won by an 8–1 score.
 
Duke picked up her fourth career hat trick for the Mounties. Amanda Ray had her second straight two goal game. Alyssa Czekai had a goal and a pair of assists. Kathleen Marchiani and Kylee Boardman had the bookend goals for Mansfield.
 
Marchiani got things started for the Mounties, three minutes in, finding the cage in her first appearance on the season. Duke would score with 2.8 seconds remaining in the quarter to give Mansfield a 2-0 lead after the first quarter. 
 
Czekai increased the lead in the second quarter converting her third goal of her inaugural year, putting the Mountaineers up 3-0 heading into halftime. 
 
The Mountaineer offense would find the cage four times in the third quarter. Duke would score 50 seconds into the period on the Czekai assist. Ray scored next off a corner and an Amanda Duke assist. J. Duke would complete the hat trick on a penalty stroke goal before Ray would earn her second just a minute later. Mounties led 7-0 after three quarters.
 
The final Mountie goal would come with four minutes remaining. After surrendering a goal earlier in the quarter, Boardman would score off a corner to give Mansfield the 8-1 victory.

The Mounties are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 9 as they travel to East Stroudsburg to take on the Warriors.
