Mansfield Suffers Setback in Defensive Battle Against Shepherd

SHEPHERD, W.Va. -  The Mansfield Mountaineers women's soccer team traveled to West Virginia to take on Shepherd University for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on Saturday, Sept. 26.
 
The Mounties (1-8-0 | 0-7-0 PSAC), despite a well fought defensive battle, fell to the Rams (8-1-0 | 7-1-0) by a score of 2-0.
 
Angel Gulé led the defensive clinic for Mansfield, racking up another 12 saves on an already astonishing season. After the contest, she remains a top ten goalkeeper in the PSAC.
 
Offensively, both Aaliyah Stocks and Addison Emenheiser had a shot on the day.
 
Shepherd scored their first goal in the 20th minute of the first half after a back-and-forth defensive showcase.
 
After another 30 minutes had passed, the Rams' second goal came within the 71st minute in the second half.
 
The Mounties fought hard with Stocks and Emenheiser both taking a shot at the goal. However, they fell to Shepherd 2-0.

Mansfield is back at home on Wednesday (Sept. 30) for a conference match against Shippensburg. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
