Perlungher Blast Highlights Split with Shepherd

Shepherdstown, W.Va. – The Mansfield Mountaineer softball team split a doubleheader with the Shepherd Rams, on Saturday April 18.
 
Mansfield responded to win the second game of the day 9-3 after dropping the first 4-0. 
 
GAME TWO: Mansfield 9 - Shepherd 3 
 
Mansfield would get great offense in the second game highlighted by Shannon Perlungher's third homerun of the season. Liliana Moyer would account for two RBI.
 
 Emma Maurer was a standout at the plate and in the circle. Maurer went 3-4 with a double and two RBIs and pitched a complete game with four strikeouts. 
 
Down 2-0 entering the fourth inning, Mansfield broke through on a Maurer single that scored two runs, tying the score 2-2. A few batters later Madison Stahli drew a walk that brought in the go ahead run, up 3-2. 
 
Perlungher would add three runs emphatically on a homerun to left field making the score 7-2. 
 
Shepherd would gain a run back in the fifth but Mansfield put it away in the sixth as Moyer drove in two more runs on a single. Mansfield would take game two 9-3.
 
GAME ONE: Shepherd 4 – Mansfield 0
 
In the first game of the day Mansfield had their bats fall silent. They were held to two hits. Perlungher and Sarah Shupp would get those.
 
Reilly Storer would pitch six innings getting a strikeout and only giving up a single walk.

Mansfield returns to Helen Lutes Field on Tuesday, April 21, as they welcome the Bald Eagles of Lock Haven.
