RALEIGH, NC. – The Mountaineer softball team (1-1) traveled to compete in the Triangle Classic Tournament, with the games being split.
Game One: Mansfield 5, Shaw University 1
The Mounties were able to get a quick start from Alex Reisinger hitting a single, allowing Paige Reichard and Aubrey Reinert to score.
Both teams had quick innings up until the third at bat for the Mountaineers.
Emma Wonsick was able to get on base due to a Shaw error, giving Emma Maurer, Sarah Shupp and Reichard to all score.
Starting pitcher Emma Maurer was able to hold off the Bears without allowing them to score until the fifth inning.
The final score of game one was in favor of the Mountaineers 5, Bears 1.
Game Two: Emory & Henry 9, Mansfield 0
The start of the game was quick three up and three down innings up until the third for the wasps.
A home run allowed Emory & Henry to open up the scoring opportunity, three more runs followed.
The wasps were able to add five more points to the scoreboard in the sixth inning, ultimately ending the match up.

The Mounties are set to compete in day two of the tournament, tomorrow against West Virginia State University at 8:00 am and Frostburg State at 10:00 am.
