MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineer sprint football program has announced their 2025 schedule, featuring eight Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) games, including four home games on Karl Van Norman Field.

Under head coach John Evans, the season opener will double as Mansfield's 2025 Homecoming weekend, with the Mounties starting versus Penn on September 27, with the schedule starter beginning at 5 p.m.

Week two consists of the Mountaineers hosting the Caldwell Cougars to start CSFL North division action, which takes place on October 4, starting at 2 p.m.

After a three-week absence at home, the red and black returns on October 25 to face Cornell in the all-important Josh Palmer Classic and a Pink Out themed night at Karl Van Norman. This contest with the Big Red begins at 4 p.m.

The Josh Palmer Pigskin Classic is named for former Mountaineer football player and assistant coach Josh Palmer who overcame Hodgkin's Disease to return to the gridiron. While he was undergoing treatment and recovery, Palmer started the Josh Palmer Fund to support area young adults afflicted by cancer. To date, the fund has raised and distributed more than one million dollars to local individuals and organizations.

"We are excited to partner with Cornell University for the Josh Palmer Pigskin Classic." Coach Evans stated. "The Josh Palmer Foundation does so much in the Twin Tiers supporting cancer treatment and support."

Rounding out the home portion of the schedule, Senior Day highlights the November 8 game with Army. The 1 p.m. divisional duel with the Black Knights will also serve as the Military Veterans Appreciation Game. 

The CSFL Championship will host the top team from each division on November 22.

ABOUT SPRINT FOOTBALL: Sprint Football is a full-contact, intercollegiate, varsity sport that features the same rules as NCAA football, except that all players must weigh 178.0 pounds or less. The league has been in existence since prior to World War II.
