MANSFIELD, Pa. – The cold of winter can't slow the momentum building inside Mansfield's facilities, where the track and field athletes are preparing for a season of speed, strength, and endurance. Under the guidance of second-year head coach
Nick Mattis, the Mountaineers track and field team is ready to chase personal bests, team records, and potential conference glory.
A Season of Growth
Mattis, now in his second year leading the program, has already established a culture of discipline, focus, and determination. "We are looking forward to this year with my new recruiting class." Mattis explains. "They are going to be able to come in strong and hopefully break more records."
The roster combines returning athletes familiar with Mattis' training philosophy with new faces eager to make an immediate impact. From sprinters to distance runners, and from jumpers to throwers, Mansfield boasts a well-rounded team capable of competing across all events.
Competition Ahead
The indoor season kicks off with one early-season meets designed to test depth and sharpen techniques. Key PSAC contests will challenge the Mountaineers against familiar conference rivals, while invitational events provide opportunities to set personal and program records.
Mattis is focused on consistency and execution. "With a young team, we look to establish a new culture here in the program." he says.
Eyes on the Championship
With the PSAC Indoor Championship on the horizon, Mansfield is looking to build on last year's progress. Strong performances in sprints, distance, jumps, and throws could position the Mountaineers for a competitive postseason showing.
As the athletes hit the track and field events this winter, fans can expect fast times, precise technique, and the determination that defines Mansfield's program. Under Coach Mattis, the Mountaineers track and field team is not just running for the season—they're running toward a legacy.
