MANSFIELD, Pa. – Mansfield Mountaineer sprint football has announced its 2024 schedule featuring eight regular season games, including four home games at Karl Van Norman Field.

The season opener will double as the Josh Palmer Classic game, returning for the first time since 2019. A game that fund raises money for the Josh Palmer fund, the Josh Palmer fund raises donations to help other young adults afflicted by cancer in the area.

"We are exciting to bring back the Josh Palmer Pigskin Classic." Coach Evans stated. "The Josh Palmer Foundation does so much in the Twin Tiers supporting cancer treatment and support."

Homecoming 2024 will be held on the weekend of October 4-5, with the Mountaineers hosting Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m.

Mansfield is scheduled to host a Pink Out game October 19, and Senior Day will be held on the final home game Nov.2.

All home games will be covered with live stats and a video broadcast thanks to Mountie All-Access.

The Mountaineers finished 2023 with a 4-3 record, making it with five straight .500 record or above seasons, all in the John Evans era. That is the most successful stretch at any level of Mountaineer football since the five seasons from 1963-1967.

ABOUT SPRINT FOOTBALL: Sprint Football is a full-contact, intercollegiate, varsity sport that features the same rules as NCAA football, except that all players must weigh 178.0 pounds or less. The league has been in existence since prior to World War II.
