KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers softball team (11-11, 2-10 PSAC East) stayed on the road for two days straight of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action, facing Kutztown University (17-12, 5-5 PSAC East) as the Golden Bears grabbed both weekend games, 8-0 and 9-0, to secure the Saturday softball doubleheader.
With 4.2 innings pitched today, Danielle Goff now moves into third all-time in career innings pitched for the program.
GAME 1: Kutztown 8 – Mansfield 0 (5 innings)
Two scoreless innings started off the Eastern Division battle as Goff sat down the first six Golden Bears.
Kutztown struck first in the top of the third inning, smacking a two-run triple to take the first lead at 2-0. Another RBI single posted the host's quick trio of runs on the scoreboard.
Benefitting off a bases loaded situation, the Golden Bears strengthened their lead in the bottom of the fourth. A wild pitch gave them the 4-0 lead. A deep sacrifice fly cleared the bases, and a solo shot solidified a four-run inning to give Kutztown the 7-0 lead heading into the fifth.
The final run needed came off an RBI single to give the Golden Bears the 8-0 game one victory.
Fallon Kelley and Emma Wonsick each earned a hit for the Mounties.
GAME 2: Kutztown 9 – Mansfield 0 (5 innings)
Kutztown got right back to work in the first inning, scoring the first run off a wild pitch.
The third inning contributed to two more runs for the Golden Bears. With an RBI double and an RBI single, the host controlled with a 3-0 lead.
Five more runs piled on for the Golden Bears to complete the sweep in the fourth inning, including a three-run home run to finish up game two, 9-0.
Kayla Vonstein, Caydence Macik, Shannon Perlungher all collected a hit each.

The Mounties finish their road trip on Tuesday (Apr. 2) with a doubleheader against Shippensburg. The first pitch of this mid-week matchup with the Raiders is scheduled for 2 p.m.
