YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Skylar Brown and Abigail Taylor's school records headline the performances by the Mansfield Mountaineers women's track and field team who visited the Mid-Major Invitational held by Youngstown State from Friday, Feb. 2 to Saturday, Feb. 3.
Brown picked up a victory in the 200-meter dash for another school record and Taylor improved her school record in the triple jump.
Brown broke the school record with a time of 24.82 in today's competition to now set her name atop the leaderboard, picking up the 200-meter dash victory. This performance knocks off the previous record set by Olivia Lopes in 2013. Brown also earned her second victory of the day in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.62.
Taylor reset her triple jump record with a jump of 11.93 meters in her final attempt to take down her previous mark of 11.60 that she had earned in the 2023 indoor season. This outstanding personal best landed her tied for third in the event. It is the top mark in the PSAC this season and an NCAA Provisional mark.
Carrie Claypool marked a personal best in the 3000-meter race, inking an 11:05.61 time to finish 12th in the event.
Anna Duncan landed her personal best in the mile, landing a time of 5:30.92 and placing in 20th.
In the long jump, Madison Ziska posted an impressive 5.22 mark, finishing 21st in the event. Taylor posted her personal best in this event at 4.81, which now sits at sixth in the program's record book.
Marissa Allen and Anissa Lytle finished off the impressive day by the Mounties, posting personal bests in the 800 with times of 2:39.31 and 2:53.31 respectively.
