MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers (0-15-3, 0-15-1 PASC East) fell on Senior Day to the East Stroudsburg Warriors (8-3-7, 6-3-7 PSAC East) on Saturday (Nov. 9) afternoon by a final score of 4-1.
Before the game the Mountaineers honored seven seniors; Emily Smith, Magi Earnest, Taylar Luckenbill, Kerrah Clymer, Taya-Reese Johnson, Katelyn Rueppel, and Catherine Simone.Â
ESU scored on their first shot attempt in the first minute to take a 1-0 lead.
A few moments later, East Stroudsburg added another after Serenity Esterline made two consecutive saves but couldn't recover for the third as the Warriors doubled their lead.
The Warriors drew a penalty in the middle of the first half and capitalized to go ahead 3-0.Â
With just five seconds left in the first half, Brynn Knepp scored her first career goal off an Olivia Hudson assist to cut the ESU lead to two.Â
East Stroudsburg scored their fourth of the game in the 62nd as they got around the Mansfield keeper and found the empty net.Â
Esterline finished the game with five saves.
Alyssa Shuman who subbed on at halftime finished with six saves.Â
Knepp scored the lone Mountie goal and led the team in shots with two.
