CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.- The Mansfield Mountaineer sprint football team closed out the 2023 season with a road victory as they defeated Chestnut Hill College 42-30, on Saturday Nov. 4.
Cahsid Raymond accounted for 389 yards of offense and four scores, while the defense forced four turnovers to highlight the day.
The Mounties (4-3) got on the board quickly as Raymond connected on a 75 yard touchdown pass to
LaTrenton Randle to go up 6-0.
The Griffins (2-5) responded with a six-play drive that resulted in a ten yard touchdown pass from C.J. Smalls to Lawrence Howard to take the lead at 7-6.

Eli Swan for a two-point conversion to make the score 14-7.
Mansfield scored again as
Dominic Cherry punched it in from two yards out, increasing the lead 21-7 with 6:01 remaining in the second quarter.
After a Chestnut Hill field goal made it 21-10, the Mounties ran the two-minute drill to perfection.
Terrance Quaker finished it off with a two-yard run to give Mansfield a 28-10 lead going into the half.
The Mounties struck first in the second half as Raymond found Quaker on a 14-yard swing pass to give the Mounties a 35-10 lead.
Special Team blunders lead to two quick Griffin scoring drives and the score was 35-24 at the end of the third.
Raymond collected the final touchdown for the Mounties with a 44 yard run up the heart of the defense on an option keeper. Mansfield led 42-24.
The Griffins hung in with a 25 yard touchdown pass from Smalls to Nick Ocampo with 7:26 remaining to make the score 42-30.
The Mounties solidified the contest in their favor after
Aaron Thomas scooped up a fumble on the final Chestnut Hill drive.
Raymond finished 11-28 for 265 yards and two touchdowns through the air and 124 yards and a pair of scores on the ground. Randle finished with three catches for 143 yards.
Bryce Allen and Chris Savko each collected a sack, and the Mounties had six tackles for loss. Thomas and
Ian Mapp each had fumble recoveries, and
Chase Thompson had two interceptions on the day, giving him five on the year which ties the Mansfield sprint football for interceptions in a season.
With the win, the Mountaineers finish with five straight .500 record or above seasons, all in the
John Evans era. That is the most successful stretch at any level of Mountaineer football since the five seasons from 1963-1967.
That concluded the 2023 Mansfield sprint football season.
