Lock Haven Slips Past Mansfield in PSAC East Match-up

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers women's soccer team (3-7-2, 2-6-2 PSAC East) lost to the Lock Haven Bald Eagles (2-8-1, 2-7-1 PSAC East) Wednesday night by a final score of 2-0.

Mansfield's first opportunity came just 10 minutes into the game when Taylar Luckenbill put in a back post cross off of a free kick that was caught by the Lock Haven goalkeeper Megan Miller.

Katelyn Rueppel had three shots on goal in the first half. She also had a shot off of a beautiful through ball in the 25th minute that slid just wide left and narrowly missed. The first uncapitalized Mansfield scoring chance of the game. Sending the game into the half tied at zero.

Luckenbill once again created a chance off a free kick in the 47th putting in a wonderful set piece that went off the head of Bailey Dockman and missed the left post by a slim margin.

The Mounties once again squandered another opportunity to take the lead when Parker Moss missed to the right of the goal from a deflected pass that put her one-on-one with the goalie.

The Bald Eagles broke the scoreless tie in the 85th minute with a goal by Avery Landrum to propel Lock Haven to a 1-0 lead.

Lock Haven added another with just 33 seconds left when Jocey Francis slotted one by Samantha Merklin to ice the game.

Rueppel led the team in shots and shots on goal. Moss also recorded a shot.

Merklin made a total of three saves in the game.
