MU ATHLETICS FULL COMPOSITE CALENDER 2022-23

The Mountaineers travel to rival Cornell University tonight at 7 p.m. as they look to go above .500 for the first time this season. MU evened their record at 1-1 overall after upending Chestnut Hill College, 40-21, last Saturday in a lopsided affair. Sophomore quarterback Cahsid Raymond accounted for four touchdowns, 295 yards passing (16-of-27), and 103 yards rushing. Senior Matt Robert led the Mountaineers' defense with a game-high nine tackles, senior Chase Moser racked up a game-high 3.0 tackled for loss, while sophomore Gavin Hinman made a game-high two sacks. Hinman, Moser and senior Kayin Berger all recorded a sack, while Moser and freshman Audie McAree added a fumble recovery each.

Raymond was named CSFL Offensive Player of the Week and Moser earned Defensive Line Honor Roll for their performances in the victory.

After losing their first 14 meetings with Cornell since joining the CSFL in 2008, the Mounties have enjoined recent success after defeating the Big Red 44-13 on the road in 2019 and 48-3 at home in 2021. Raymond kicked off his Rookie of the Year campaign with four touchdowns during the 2021 meeting.

Next Up: Mansfield hosts Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 8) at 1 p.m. at Karl Van Norman Field.

The Mounties open October by traveling to No. 7 IUP tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. for their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest of the season. MU will look to revenge an early-season 4-3 non-conference overtime loss to the Crimson Hawks on Sept. 10.

The Mounties are fresh off their biggest win in over two seasons after upsetting Kutztown University, 2-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday. Sophomore August Lewis pitched a shutout, while freshman Sarah Loeffler and senior Alex Esterling found the back of the cage to lead the Mountaineers to victory.

The Mounties are off to 5-3 start through their non-conference schedule, with their only losses coming in overtime to No. 2 Shippensburg University and 7th-ranked IUP and 3-1 to future NCAA DI program Lindenwood University.

Next Up: The Mounties have the week off before traveling to No. 4 Kutztown University for a PSAC contest at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The Mounties are set for a test with 6-2-2 overall East Stroudsburg University on Sunday, Oct.2 in PSAC East action. The Warriors are coming off a huge 1-0 victory over 13th-ranked Bloomsburg University on Wednesday, ending a two-game skid. The Warriors downed MU, 2-1, on the first meeting of the season hosted by Mansfield on Sept. 3. Sophomore Katelyn Rueppel scored the lone goal for the Mounties.

Rueppell leads the Mounties in points this season with eight (three goals, two assists), while senior Olivia Bowman and junior Emily Smith come in behind her with six each. Bowman and Smith were key players last week to lead the Mounties to a 1-1 week, as Bowman dished out an assist and scored a goal in MU's 3-0 victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Monday and Smith scored her second goal of the season at Shippensburg on Wednesday.

Next Up: The Mounties travel to Bloomsburg University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 for a PSAC Eastern Division match.
