MANSFIELD- Senior
Lacey O'Donnell finished her Mansfield University softball career with a perfect day at the plate going 6-6 in the two games, but the Mounties drop the doubleheader to Shippensburg 8-2, 12-1, on Saturday April 30.
O'Donnell went 4-4 in game one with four singles and knocked two more and accounted for the Mounties lone run in game two. Mansfield finishes the season 5-23, 1-15 PSAC East.
Shippensburg (30-16, 11-5 PSAC East) got started quickly in game one scoring two first inning runs. The Mountaineers cut the lead as Sophomore
Gabby Drumm drew a walk with the bases loaded. Shippensburg would strand all three runners to lead Mansfield 2-1.
The Raiders put on two more runs through the next two innings to lead 5-1. Sophomore
Anastasia Berardi was able to reach on an error and score
Danielle Goff.
The Mountie defense would surrender an additional three runs in the final inning to drop the contest 8-2.
Shippensburg started game two with two runs in the first and followed that up with a grand slam home run by Morgan Lindsay to lead 6-0. The Raiders took advantage of Mountie errors to led 10-0 in the third inning.
Senior
Alexis Easling scored O'Donnell for the lone run of the contest at the bottom of the third inning but the Mounties would fall in 5 innings 12-1.
The doubleheader concludes the 2022 campaign for the Mountaineer softball program.
