KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Mansfield University softball team fell twice on the road to Kutztown University, 8-0, 3-1 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader on Friday afternoon, April 15.

In the nightcap, the Mounties (5-15, 1-7 PSAC East) opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first when senior
Lacey O'Donnell scored on an RBI ground out by sophomore
Kayla Vonstein. Kutztown (26-10, 5-1 PSAC East) knotted the score at one during the next frame with an unearned run.

Both clubs were held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when Kutztown struck for two runs, before retiring the side in the seventh to seal the victory.

O'Donnell scored the Mountaineers' run, while senior
Abbey Woodard notched the lone hit to highlight the offense.

Senior
Alexis Easling allowed just one earned run in six-complete innings, while fanning three in the losing effort.

Amber Brugger allowed one run (0 earned) in seven innings, adding a game-high 10 strikeouts. Sarah Harvey collected two hits and drove in a run to lead KU's hitters.

In the opener, the Golden Bears scored four runs through their opening four at-bats before matching that total with a four-spot in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory.

O'Donnell and Vonstein recorded the hits for MU. With the base knock, O'Donnell improves her career hit total to 99, one shy reaching the century mark milestone.

Junior
Danielle Goff suffered the loss, allowing six runs on 10 hits, while striking out two.

Bridget Bailey earned her 14
th victory in the circle for KU, not allowing a run and striking out two in five innings. Kate Ostaszews went 3-for-3 with three runs scored to lead the Golden Bears' offense.

The Mounties travel to Shepherd University tomorrow afternoon for a PSAC East doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
