ITHACA, N.Y.- Sophomore
Skylar Brown and freshman
Madison Ziska highlighted the 2022-23 Mansfield Women's indoor track and field season opening meet with Brown breaking the Mansfield 60-meter dash record and Ziska tying the long jump record during the Greg Page Relays on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Brown competed in the first round of the 60-meter dash where she clocked in at 7.72 seconds, finishing seventh for the record. She matched that time in the semifinals, finishing 5
th.
That time beats Olivia Lopes 7.75 time set back in 2013 - it is also a PSAC qualifying mark.
Ziska made her career debut and landed a long jump mark of 5.07 meters, which matches Erica Ferguson's mark set back in 2009. She finished 12
th on the day.
Brown was joined in the 60-meter dash by sophomore
Island Blanche (30
th, 8.23) and freshman
Jakayla Holmes who finished with times of 8.23 (30
th) and 8.75 (58
th), respectively.
Sophomore
Abigail Taylor finished 10th in the long Jump with a mark of 10.59 meters.
Junior
Kayla Crawford ran the 300-meter dash finishing in 31
st with a time if 44.77.
The Mountaineers are scheduled to travel to Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. for a final meet before the semester break on Friday, Dec. 9.
