Mounties drop road contest at Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. – The Mansfield University women's soccer team hit the road for the final time this season, falling to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division foe Shepherd University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22.
 
Shepherd scored both their goals in the first half, coming in the first and 14th minute.
 
The Rams dominated possession in the contest, winning the corner battle, 14-0 and leading in shots 20-2.
 
Sophomore Katelyn Rueppel recorded the lone Mountaineer shot on goal.
 
Freshman Samantha Merklin made a game-high 11 saves for the Mounties.
 
Faith Leisinger and Alayna Burgamy combined for the shutout victory in net for the Rams.
 
The Mounties conclude the 2022 season at home when they host Shippensburg University on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. at the MU Soccer Field.
