INDIANA, Pa. – The Mansfield University field hockey team (5-4, 0-1 PSAC) dropped their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener, 1-0, to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) (5-2, 1-0 PSAC) on the road on Saturday night, Oct. 1.

IUP's Blaise Cugini scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Jess Davidson during the opening minute of the second quarter. Amanda Zaner earned the victory in net for the Crimson Hawks, finishing with a game-high five saves.

The Mounties led 8-5 on corners, and 9-7 on shots, but couldn't find the back of the cage to force overtime.

August Lewis (Felton, Del. / Lake Forest) was delt the loss in goal for the Mounties, finishing with two saves and just one goal allowed in the full 60 minutes.

Ashtyn Price (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) fired two shots, both on goal, to lead the Mounties' offense. Juniors
Alex Esterling (Wilmington, Del. / Delaware Military Institute) and
Saramae Radel (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove) also had scoring opportunities, finishing with a shot on goal each.

The Mounties have a rematch at No. 4 Kutztown University on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in PSAC action.
