Cahsid Raymond was named Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Player and Newcomer of the Week and freshman corner
Nakiem Scott was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon, Sept. 20.
The Mounties brought home three of the four weekly honors for the first time in program-history after a dominating, 48-3 win over Cornell University on Saturday night.
Raymond finished 3-of-8 for 168 yards and two touchdowns through the air and added eight carries for 163 yards and another two scores. Raymond threw touchdown passes of 50 and 83 yards and ran for scores of 75 and 61 yards, while averaging 20.4 yards per carry and 56.0 yards per completion.
In his Mountaineer debut, Raymond set the quarterback single-game program rushing record, while his run of 80 yards is second all-time out of all players. His touchdown pass of 83 yards also set a program record.
Scott was lightning in a bottle during his Mountaineer debut, picking off three Big Red passes on consecutive drives, all leading to Mansfield scores. Scott's three picks tied a 10-year program-record for interceptions in a game. Scott racked up 52 interception-return yards to put the Mountaineer offense in scoring position. Scott added a solo tackle.
The Mounties are back in action this weekend, Saturday, Sept. 25 when they host the University of Pennsylvania at 7 p.m. under the Karl Van Norman Field lights as part of Mansfield University's Homecoming Weekend.
