MANSFIELD, Pa. – Four former Mansfield University Athletic standout student-athletes were inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, as Marci (Lippert) Scheuing '04 (field hockey) was inducted to the Tri-County Branch, while Joe DeSanto '73 (baseball) and Tim Fausnaught '92 (baseball) and Scott Grove '83 were honored by the West Branch during respective ceremonies earlier this month.
The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame was chartered in 1962. It is the only community-based Hall of Fame in the Country and its present thirty-one (31) Chartered Chapters serve more than 300 communities throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Each year the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame inducts area greats of yesteryear and endeavors to include athletes, administrators, coaches, officials, sports medicine and the sports media. The Chapters of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame also honors the scholastic, collegiate, community service and courageous athlete awards within those communities.

The eight-member 2021 class was inducted into the Tri-County Area Chapter of the Pa. Sports Hall of Fame during the 43rd annual ceremony on Friday, Nov. 19, at Sunnybrook Ballroom.
Marci (Lippert) Scheuing
St. Pius X High School – Field Hockey, Basketball, Track & Field
After excelling in field hockey, basketball and track and field at St. Pius X, she lettered four years at Mansfield University (Class of 2004) in field hockey. Scheuing has made a name in the college coaching ranks, starting at Bryn Mawr College and Cedar Crest College before Kutztown University the past eight seasons. She is a three-time PSAC Coach of the Year, leading the Bears the PSAC final and NCAA Final Four in 2019. She has coached 17 All-Americans.
At Mansfield, Scheuing helped the Mountaineers to an ECAC Championship in 2001 and was a member of two nationally ranked teams. Named Most Improved Player in 2002, Scheuing served as team captain of the Mountaineers in 2004, and was named to the Division II All Star Team in the same season. She also served as a student-assistant in the Mountaineer sports information office.
WEST BRACH AREA CHAPTER
An outstanding group of 11 honorees, including 10 living inductees and one deceased inductee as well as a Volunteer of the Year, was honored at the West Branch Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame during the annual Hall of Fame banquet at the Genetti Hotel & Suites in Williamsport, on Sunday night, Nov. 14.

Fausnaught was inducted into the Mansfield University Alumni-Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983.
A three-time NAIA All-American second baseman at Mansfield University (1971-73) … finished career with .416 batting average, still sixth in program history … batted .469 in 1972, the highest average amongst small college hitters in the Eastern United States to earn the Adirondack Trophy, as he set school records with 60 hits and 77 total bases … left Mansfield with school records for career hits, runs, doubles and triples … earned NAIA All-District honors three times, first-team All-PSAC honors three times and second-team All-PSAC honors once … named to West Branch Baseball League All-Star game as second baseman for Watsontown in 1971 … played American Legion baseball with Williamsport Post 1A before Williamsport High School established a baseball team.

Fausnaught was inducted into the Mansfield University Alumni-Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.
A First Team Division II All-American at Mansfield in 1992, when he finished sixth in the nation with a .467 batting average, 78 hits, a school-record 67 runs, 21 doubles and 10 homers … named one of the top ten players in Division II by Baseball America in 1993 … three-time All-PSAC selection (1991-93) … held PSAC records for career hits (250), runs (200) and doubles (62) at time of graduation … led Mountaineers to three PSAC East Division crowns, two PSAC titles, two North Atlantic Regional Championships and two appearances in the Division II World Series, including a second-place finish in 1992 … led Williamsport Area High School in hits and runs as a junior and senior … helped team win district title as a senior in 1988.

Grove was a pitcher for the Mountaineers from 1980-83 before becoming one of the most dominating figure in Lycoming County youth and adolescent baseball. Grove's suns, Nate and Nick also went on to have impactful pitching careers for the Mounties under legendary coach Harry Hillson.
Williamsport Area High School baseball coach from 1988-07 … had an overall record of 308-108 (.740) at the school … led Millionaires to 10 district championships and appearances in the 1989 and 1995 state championship game … participated in basketball, baseball and track and field at Montgomery Area, and baseball at Mansfield … spent three seasons as assistant baseball coach at Hughesville Area (2008-10) … also served as an assistant track and field and basketball coach at Williamsport Area before becoming an assistant baseball coach in 1984 … volunteered as the official scorekeeper during the Little League World Series and Bristol (Conn.) Regionals for 28 years and also worked Little League summer camps.
