Following the season, Gallagher was named PSAC Central Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. Gallagher has held many hats in the athletic department, serving as interim athletic director, field hockey head coach (1992) and much more. She was named Mansfield University Employee of the Year in April of 2016.
Hear from coach "G" as she discusses challenges faced during COVID-19, the culture of team 41, her favorite quote and more.
Â
What has been the biggest challenge during a "COVID-19" offseason?
Â
A: To keep the team connected while we were physically apart.
Â
Â
What makes MU so special to you?
Â
The people are what make MU special. Due to our small size you can make a lot of personal connections. The personal connections allow all of us to be "seen". Everyone who works at MU wants to see our students and Teams succeed. We all take great pride in our university.
Â
What is your favorite quote?
A: "It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard ... is what makes it great."Â - Jimmy Dugan: A League of Their Own
Team culture has always been key to MUSB, how has this year's culture still been able to develop during unprecedented times?
A: Challenging times bring out the best in people and we are finding ways to be together outside the field, but still following all safety guidelines.
One thing you would tell your younger self?
Â
A: To control your controllable and not be so hard on yourself mentally.Â
