MANSFIELD – The Bobby O'Connor Memorial Lift-A-Thon fundraiser has been moved to Monday and Tuesday, March 16-17, announced by third-year head coach
John Evans on Wednesday.Â
The Lift-A-Thon event will be held in the strength and conditioning facility at Decker Gymnasium. During the Lift-A-Thon, each player will have three tries to lift a maximum weight in the bench press, squat, and dead lift.
Â
Gifts can be received in two different ways this year - you may give a flat rate or with a per pound pledge. Gifts are being accepted leading up to, during, and following the event.
Â
Please email assistant coach
jwoods@mansfield.edu if you wish to make a per pound pledge.
"Bobby's memory will live on forever with the equipment purchased with the money raised,"Â
Evans added.
The event was renamed in honor of former Mountaineer sprint football student-athlete Bobby O'Connor in 2018. O'Connor, a native of Quakertown, Pa., was an MU Presidential Scholar-Athlete and an avid power lifter. He passed away in an accident in 2015.
The football program is aiming to raise at least $100 per player for a total of $7,500.
