MANSFIELD –
Koby Peacock threw for 170 yards and a pair of scores while adding a rushing touchdown as Mansfield rolled past Saint Thomas Aquinas 31-6 on Light Up Mansfield Again (LUMA) 2019 at Karl Van Norman Field on Saturday.

Prior to the game, Mansfield honored its history as the Birthplace of Night Football with the annual LUMA ceremony to light up the night. The game was also the Josh Palmer Pigskin Classic, marking back-to-back Palmer Classic wins for the Mounties for the first time since the trophy's inception.

Mansfield's (2-1, 1-0 CSFL North) first score of the game came on a STAC miscue with a bad snap on a punt attempt that resulted in the Spartans falling on the football in the endzone.
Terrance Quaker took the ensuing kick-off and raced 70 yards to the endzone for an electric kick-off return.
Chase Moser converted the two-point try to give Mansfield a quick 10-0 lead.

The Mansfield defense forced a pair of three-and-outs to set up a five-play, 50-yard Mountaineer drive that ended with Peacock finding
Jayden Walker in the endzone from two-yards out for the score. The touchdown and good extra point gave Mansfield a 17-0 advantage.

Late in the first half, Mansfield got great field position by another STAC miscue on a punt that allowed the Mounties to take over in the redzone. After a rush for a loss, Peacock hit
John Rogers for a 26-yard scoring pass to make it 24-0.

The Spartans got on the board with a touchdown with under three minutes to play in the half, but the Mounties snuffed out the two-point conversion try. Mansfield took a 24-6 lead into halftime.

The Mountaineers hit paydirt again in its second possession of the second half with a grinding, 13-play drive for 71 yards that ended with Peacock punching in the score from a yard out on a QB sneak.

Peacock connected on 19-of-34 passes for 170 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed eight times for 32 yards and a score.

David Butler ripped off another big performance on the ground, rushing 21 times for 121 yards. D.J. Mclean led the receiving corps with five catches for 58 yards. Walker also had five catches for 36 yards and a score a Rogers hauled in two passes for 29 yards and a touchdown.

Matt Roberts totaled a game-high 12 stops including seven solo tackles and a tackle for loss.
Dajuan Buie totaled seven tackles, four pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery.

Alex Kozuhowski, and
Kayin Berger each had sacks in the game.

STAC quarterback Kiel McKenzie completed 10 passes for 103 yards and a score. His top target in Mahki Matthews caught five passes for 42 yards.

Daniel Grossman and Maxwell Johnson each had eight tackles to lead the Spartan defense.

Mansfield's offense totaled 21 first downs and 349 yards of offense in the win. Yardage was split almost evenly with 188 yards through the air and 161 on the ground.

STAC's offense was held to 160 yards of total offense and 11 first downs.

Mansfield completes a three-game home stand next Saturday when it welcomes CSFL newcomer Alderson Broaddus for Homecoming.
