MANSFIELD – Mansfield scored first, but #25 Millersville was able to escape with a 2-1 win in PSAC women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon. It was an action-packed clash after scattered showers and thunderstorms came earlier in the day, however the skies opened up prior to kickoff at Van Norman Field.Â
Â
After notching a goal against Clarion on Sunday, Senior forward
Bria Bittiger scored her second goal of the season against Millersville in the sixth minute of play. She received a pass from
Cay McNichol straight down the gut of the field and split several defenders right in front of the net where she then buried her shot past the keeper.
Â
The Mounties took that 1-0 lead nearly 60 minutes into the game, and
Stephanie Moir faced 29 shots in net, before the Marauders struck back. The game-tying goal was produced by Kay Liebl as she found teammate Cassie Blyth in the middle of the field. The freshman midfielder Blyth turned and shot to the left side of the net past the outstretched Moir.
Â
Mansfield continued to handle the Marauders' pressure with poise and turned aside shot-after-shot for nearly 25 more minutes to keep the game tied at 1-1. It was with just 5:28 left in the contest when Delaney Meadows turned the tides at Van Norman Field. Millersville earned a corner kick which Lauren Hoffman took from the right side. She fired in a cross towards the top of the box where it was initially redirected within a mass of players. The deflected ball landed at the feet of Meadows who tucked it into the bottom right side of the net. From there, the Marauders were able to kill-off the remaining few minutes of play. In total, they peppered the net with 45 shots on the day.
Â
Freshman keeper
Stephanie Moir returned to the lineup and finished her remarkable performance with 17 saves. Bittiger ended up with three shots, midfielder
Abbey Korber added two, and four other players took a chance on net for the Mounties.

The Mounties travel to California, Pa. on Saturday to face the Vulcans at noon.
