MANSFIELD – Mansfield held a big 43-11 shots advantage, but failed to capitalize on offensive opportunities in a 3-2 loss to Queens in the home opener at Karl Van Norman Field on Sunday.

The Mountaineers wasted no time getting on the board with
Amber Prince playing a rebounded ball off the keeper's pads and into goal less than two minutes into the game. It was the second goal of the season for Prince who totaled four shots on goal in the game.

Queens (2-1, 1-0 SAC) evened the score in the 14
th minute with Mazvita Mtisi also collecting a rebound off the keeper's pads and putting it into the cage.

Later in the half,
Christie Buyer used a
Dana Evans pass from the top of the circle and beat the keeper right to put the Mountaineers back on top 2-1. It was the second goal of the year for Buyer who also totaled four shots on target.

Mansfield (3-1, 0-0 PSAC) racked up 31 shots in the second half with 16 on goal, but Queens' keeper Jet Van Den Berg and the defensive line were unrelenting. Mtisi scored her second of the day to tie the game at 2-2 in the 47
th minute before Jill Sherman scored the game-winner in the 67
th minute.

The Mounties held an 18-5 advantage on penalty corners and put 25 of 43 shots on target.
