BLOOMSBURG – The Mountaineers fought hard, but dropped a 2-0 final at Bloomsburg in the season opener on Saturday at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Bloomsburg (1-0-0, 1-0-0 PSAC) scored the go-ahead goal in the 22
nd minute when Taylor Sniedman took advantage of a misplayed ball and found the back of goal. The Huskies added another goal in the 74
th minute on a well-placed shot by Maggie McDonald from distance.
Mountaineer keeper
Rachel Fox performed well in goal making five saves in her return to the pitch.
Bria Bittiger,
Breanna Murphy, and
Meghan Noone each registered shots for Mansfield (0-1-0, 0-1-0 PSAC).
It marked the debut of interim head coach
John Shaffer on the sideline who is in his first season guiding the Mounties.
Mansfield is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Pitt-Johnstown at Karl Van Norman Field at 1:30 p.m.
