MANSFIELD – Mansfield saw plenty of chances, but No. 1 West Chester came away with a 3-0 win on a cold and rainy night at Karl Van Norman Field Saturday.

The game was deadlocked in a scoreless tie until Katie Thompson gave the Rams a 1-0 advantage in the 28
th minute.

West Chester (13-2, 7-1 PSAC) took a 2-0 lead in the first minute of the second half with Lindsay Engle placing a hard hit shot just beyond the reach of the Mountie keeper. Thompson scored her second of the game in the 50
th minute.

West Chester held a 24-16 shots advantage, but Mansfield (8-7, 4-3 PSAC) led penalty corners 8-6. The Mounties put eight shots on goal in the game.

Christie Buyer totaled a game-high seven shots with three on target.
Meghan Griffin and
Dana Evans each had a pair of shots.

The loss moves Mansfield to a tie for fifth place in the PSAC standings along with Millersville at 4-3. East Stroudsburg and West Chester are the only two teams to clinch PSAC playoff berths so far, with four spots still remaining.
