MANSFIELD – Mansfield University sprint football will look to win its third straight game this Saturday, Oct. 27 when the Mountaineers host Caldwell University at Karl Van Norman Field.

Kick-off has been pushed back to 1:30 p.m. to accommodate a schedule and venue change with the women's soccer game against Mercyhurst. Free admission will be offered to all fans for Saturday's game.

Prior to the game, Mansfield will honor its graduating senior class in their last appearance in uniform at Van Norman Field.

Mansfield is coming off back-to-back wins over Post and Franklin Pierce in its last two outings to match the sprint football program record for most wins in a season. The Mounties have won two games in a season six times in 10 years of sprint football, but has been unable to pass that threshold.

Last week, the Mountaineer defense shut out Franklin Pierce's offense for an 18-2 Homecoming win. Defensive back
Brandon Allen was named CSFL Defensive Player of the Week after scoring one of Mansfield's three touchdowns in the win on a pick six in the third quarter.

Adam Hutchison is averaging 122 yards passing a game and owns a 51% passing pct. Backup QB Gary Raupers is averaging 51.4 passing yards an outing.

Receivers
Quinn Henry and
Saville Pope have emerged as top targets following an injury to all-time sprint football receiving yards leading
D.J. McLean. Henry and Pope have combined for over 77 yards receiving per game this season.
Jayden Walker leads the run game for the Mounties, averaging 41.75 yards an outing.

Linebacker
Bryton Barna tops the team and is fifth in the league in tackles a game at 8.6.

Mansfield and Caldwell have met just once before, with the Mountaineers coming away with a 49-19 victory in the 2017 season. Caldwell joined the CSFL as an associate member in 2017 and is now in its first full season with the league.

The Cougars are winless on the season at 0-5, but have scored at least two touchdowns in each of its last four games. Caldwell ranks third in the CSFL in passing offense, averaging 228.6 yards a game through the air. Quarterback Tajae' Irby has completed 60% of passes this season for eight passing touchdowns to go along with two rushing scores. Carl Watson leads the CSFL in receptions with 35 and receiving yards at 11.4 a game.
